ENA hosted a public awareness and sensitization event on human trafficking. Our focus was teaching the tricks and deceptive tactics used by traffickers to recruit victims. We also taught guests how and where to report cases of trafficking.  DSC_0681 DSC_0690The event was attended by over 500 people which was far beyond what we anticipated! We had drivers, traders, shop owners, children, GPRTU members and even pedestrians who stopped to attend the meeting. We know that everyone who came will benefit from the information we shared and will hopefully pass along what they learned. The government staff and dignitaries included the District Commander of Police for Mankessim, the Divisional Commander of Police for Mankessim, Assistant Inspector of Ghana Immigration Service for the District, and the Director of Social Welfare and Deputy Director who represented the Municipal Chief Executive for the Mfantseman Municipal. We had several staff from the District Assembly and Social Welfare attending as well.  DSC_0668 We were honored to have the Paramount Queen Mother of Mankessim, Nana Ama Amissah III to grace the event. This Queen Mother is also the President of Queen Mothers Association and has great influence in Ghana DSC_0707 DSC_0669Thank you to the Ghana Private Road and Trade Union (GPRTU) leaders for supporting our work in the District and donating their vehicle station as a venue for the event. We look forward to future events and collaborations with local officials to discuss practical ways of combating modern slavery in the Districts.     ]]>
