Thank you to everyone in Alpine, Utah who planned, hosted and attended the Humanitarian Night for Families in Sierra Leone! They raised over $2,500 and received over $9,000 in-kind donations from Utah’s Refugee Center! This is a wonderful idea of how you can easily get engaged in your own communities right here at home to raise awareness and funds for families and children in need in Africa! The goals of this event were: -To raise school tuition money for 120 children of amputee families for the upcoming school year. – To collect new and gently used clothing for children zer0 to five years old. – To collect white shirts for boys and men. To Achieve thier Goals, the Hosts Planned the following Activities for the Evening: – Cluck Truck, a popular local food truck, was there for dinner and donated a portion of their proceeds to help raise tuition money for children of amputee families.– Jennifer Hogge, ENA’s Executive Director, gave a short presentation about the work ENA provides in the Lyn Clinic and Amputee Camps. – Collect new and gently used clothing for children in Sierra Leone.– Newborn kits that will be used at the Lyn Clinic were assembled.– Participants were able to sponsor a child’s education. For only $30 those in attendance could sponsor a child and put them through a year of school. We promised to provide a picture of the student and deliver a letter and a picture of the sponsor to them from the sponsor family.– Homemade baked goods were available for purchase and 100% of the proceeds will go toward tuition for children’s education in Sierra Leone. The night was a huge success and was wonderfully attended. Thank you to everyone who planned the event and came out to support Engage Now Africa! We are very grateful for the support! ]]>
