Giving Tuesday (#GivingTuesday). This year, Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday, December 1st. While most are busy shopping at malls and scouring the internet for deeply discounted material items, a select few choose to take a break, take a step back and give where it really counts. We invite you to join with Engage Now Africa and be a part of this force for good! We invite you to open your hearts and make a contribution, whether big or small, and make a real difference this holiday season! Beginning on Tuesday, December 1st, Engage Now Africa will begin our online campaign for #GivingTuesday to raise funds for three groups of children directly affected by human trafficking, child abuse, and modern slavery. We hope and pray you will feel impressed to join us and make a real impact in the lives of one or all of the following: 1. HELP PREVENT 86 CHILDREN FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN ETHIOPIA GOAL: $2,580 A single $30 donation to this cause provides an education to a child at risk for an entire year! BACKGROUND HISTORY: Ethiopian law enforcement and community leaders in the Amhara Region of Northern Ethiopia approached Engage Now Africa and asked if we could help them enroll 86 children they identified as being very vulnerable to exploitation by human traffickers for the purpose of sex, forced labor, domestic servitude, and child brides into school. For only $30.00 per child, Engage Now Africa can enroll one child in school for an entire year, as well as purchase the required uniform and textbooks. Please help us invest in a safe, bright future filled with hope and opportunity for these children! 2. HELP A SURVIVOR OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND HER NEWBORN BABY RECOVER AND RETURN HOME GOAL: $4,000 A single donation that will cover the cost of a pack of diapers will make a huge impact in this young mother’s life! BACKGROUND HISTORY: Engage Now Africa worked in partnership with Kyampisi Childcare Ministries (KCM), the Uganda Police Force, Freedom Now International and Operation Underground Railroad to rescue a 15-year-old girl from human trafficking. At age 14, D (not real name) was raped, kidnapped, trafficked, and forced to become a child bride, which resulted in pregnancy. The GREAT news is she and her baby are now safe and recovering, and her trafficker was arrested and is now in jail facing several serious charges such as kidnapping, defilement, and aggravated trafficking under the Human Trafficking Act, 2009. However critical funds are now needed for 6 more months of vital psychological, medical and legal support, as well as, assistance with housing, transportation, clothing and infant care. Most importantly these funds will help this brave young survivor and her newborn baby return and be reintegrated back into her family. They desperately want their daughter back. Please help us invest in a new future filled with hope and opportunity for D and her baby! 3. HELP A BABY BOY RECOVER FROM CHILD ABUSE AND RETURN TO HIS FAMILY GOAL: $5,000 A single donation that can cover the cost of one doctor’s visit or a new article of clothing will brighten the future of this baby boy! BACKGROUND HISTORY: Engage Now Africa staff has been working in partnership with Kyampisi Childcare Ministries (KCM) to rescue and now care for an 18-month-old baby boy in Uganda who was the victim of severe abuse and neglect. Please help us raise the critical funds needed for Baby A’s (not real name) long-term aftercare and recovery. Over the next 6 months this will provide for all of his medical treatments, physical care, shelter, transportation needs, toys, clothes, food, and most importantly, the reintegration process so he can live with extended family. Please help us invest in a future filled with family and opportunity for this amazing boy! HOW YOU CAN HELP If you would like to join us in making a great impact this holiday season, please do the following BEFORE DECEMBER 1st: 1. Help us spread the word about #GivingTuesday and our campaign on Thunderclap! What is Thunderclap? Thunderclap is a tool that encourages many people to all post on social media at the same time. You sign up with your Facebook and Twitter accounts, and Thunderclap will post automatically for you on the date and time specified to start a wave of sharing on the day we launch the campaign. Signing up on this site does not express a commitment to donate and will not ask for a financial contribution of any kind. This is simply a social media sharing tool. For this campaign we hope to have 100 of you all posting in a huge voice on December 1 at 8am MT! Then, hopefully your friends will see, donate to our #GivingTuesday campaigns and share with their friends. As always, don’t hesitate to share multiple times on December 1st! We encourage you to give us a hand and sign up for this campaign! Be sure to sign up on Thunderclap and encourage your friends to sign up as well! How do I sign up and help spread the word?
